Taylor stared blankly at the notebook in his hand. They had been up all night writing, hoping to have this album finished before tour starts. The holidays were over and they were finally getting back into the swing of things. He decided to take a break from writing and call Olivia.
Olivia smiled wide, holding the package in her hands. She traced her finger around the return address. Every time she saw Tulsa, Oklahoma on a package, her heart fluttered. She tore it open and squealed with excitement. She gently examined its contents: a VIP backstage pass, a front row concert ticket, and a letter.
Liv,
As you know, we're in the studio working on a new album called This Time Around. We announced the tour after you and I last spoke, so I hope you don't already have a ticket. We are making 3 stops in Texas, so I just guessed which one would be closest to you, and Arlington was that choice. Besides, it's Six Flags! I really hope you can make it. I need to see you. Hope you had good holidays, despite everything. I love you.
Yours always, Taylor
Olivia read the letter three more times before it sunk in. She had front row and backstage. She couldn't contain the excitement, so she let out a scream. Her father came running into the room, a look of panic on his face.
"Ollie, are you okay? What happened?"
"Oh, I'm sorry, daddy. I didn't mean to scare you. That was an excited scream. It's TOUR TIME!!" She jumped up and down, waving the VIP pass. Her father chuckled.
"Are they finally coming to Austin?"
This made Olivia frown. "No. Dallas, Houston, or San Antonio, as usual. You'd think, since we're in the live music capitol of the world, that bands would actually tour here, but noooooooo."
"Well, at least they didn't leave Texas out completely. Where are they playing?"
"Six Flags in Arlington! I've never been there, so it's a two-for-one. I get to see my love and ride a ton of rides. It's in August, which is gonna suck because that's our hottest month, but they're worth it! Wanna come?"
"No thanks. Tell them I said hello, though." He smiled and headed back to his room, closing the door behind him. The phone rang. She knew her father most likely had his headphones on, so she ran to the living room to check the caller ID. It was a 918 area code, so she picked up quickly, knowing exactly who it was. "Oh my goodness, thank you, thank you, thank you!"
"I take it you got the package?"
Olivia could hear the laughter in his voice. "I did. I'm so excited I could scream! Oh wait, I did scream, and scared the bejeezus out of my father, haha."
"So you're coming, then?"
"Are you kidding? I wouldn't miss it for the world! I can't wait to see you. It will be a long drive, but I've got Middle of Nowhere to keep me company." Olivia couldn't stop smiling. "So, how's the album coming along?"
"Great! We're almost done. We've got all the tracks figured out, now we just need to find the right order and do some last minute lyric adjustments."
They talked for 30 minutes before Taylor had to attend a meeting. When Olivia hung up, she realized she had absentmindedly slipped the VIP lanyard around her neck and was twirling it in circles. She carefully placed the items back in the envelope and tucked them away in her stereo cabinet.
"Ollie, there's another Hanson package for you!" Mr. Hobbes yelled. He tossed the package on Olivia's bed, where she sat, reading. She smiled up at her father, ripping open the package. Inside was the new Hanson album, This Time Around. She immediately opened it and slid it in her c.d. player. She took out the lyric booklet and read them intently. She listened to the entire album at least 5 times before finally deciding to call Taylor to thank him. The album was to be released May 9, so Olivia had her hands on it almost two months before everyone else. This made her giddy with excitement. She loved being a part of the Hanson clan, yet still a fan. She got the best of both worlds. August couldn't get here soon enough. She couldn't wait to hear this album live.
Olivia had her AC on full blast and This Time Around cranked up as she made her way to Arlington. Her car was a piece of junk, so her father let her borrow his, which was nice because it had a c.d. player. She sang along at the top of her lungs, tapping on the steering wheel. She hoped she could find the hotel okay. Taylor had gotten her a room at a hotel near Six Flags. There was also supposed to be a parking pass waiting for her. This boy spoiled her, and she was thankful for him. She had finally made it to the hotel in record time. She already had a message from Taylor waiting for her at the front desk. 'Be ready by 6:30 p.m.' was all it said. She rolled her eyes at Taylor's lack of an explanation, headed up to her room, and stopped when she opened the door. It was the most amazing hotel room she'd ever been in. No, this wasn't a room. It was a suite. It had a living room, kitchenette, bedroom, and there was a garden jacuzzi tub. She was in heaven! She dropped her bag in the middle of the living room and immediately began to draw a bath in the awesome tub. She scoped out the bedroom, doing a belly flop onto the bed, which was the largest bed she'd ever seen. Taylor sure knew how to woo a girl without even being present. She stripped down and got in the bathtub, sighing in relaxation. She never wanted to leave this tub. Her bath was cut short by a loud knocking on her door. She grumbled as she got out and wrapped herself in the complimentary robe hanging on the bathroom door. She jerked open the hotel door, ready to yell at whoever was standing there, but changed her mind when she saw it was Taylor. She squealed and jumped up to hug him, wrapping her arms around his neck. "You're here! You look great. I missed you to pieces." Taylor smiled and ran his fingers through his hair.
"Hey, beautiful. Why aren't you ready?" He forced himself into the room and plopped down on the sofa, putting his feet up on the table.
"I was in lala land in that jacuzzi. It's amazing. You spoil me, you know that?" Olivia slapped his shoulder flirtatiously.
"Are you naked under there?" Taylor teased.
"No. I bathe with my clothes on."
"Hardy har har."
"Well, don't ask a dumb question and you won't get a dumb answer." Olivia smiled sweetly. Taylor rolled his eyes. "So, what's the plan, Stan?"
"I was going to take you to dinner, but that idea has gone out the window, seeing as how you're not dressed."
"I'm sorry. I'm not entirely at fault. You're 15 minutes early." Olivia pulled her wet hair back into a ponytail and sat down next to Taylor. "Maybe we should just do room service instead. This robe is much more comfortable than anything I own, anyway." She grabbed the menu from the side table and glanced at it, handing it to Taylor when she was done. "I'm totally getting the mac 'n cheese."
"Seriously, Liv? You're in a suite in a high-end hotel and you're going to order macaroni?"
"But it's my favorite!"
"I'm buying. Splurge!" Taylor gave her the puppy dog eyes. Olivia caved.
"Fine! Get me the biggest steak they have, well done, with a side salad with ranch, and a Dr Pepper. And don't forget the A1!"
"That's my girl."
Taylor was so full he could barely move. He stealthily unbuttoned his pants to make room for his belly. Olivia's eyes were bigger than her stomach. She still had half a steak left. "That was delicious. I think I ate enough to last me a few days."
"Me, too. You can't make me leave this spot."
"Does this mean you're spending the night?" Olivia winked at him.
Taylor smiled sinisterly. "Only if you want me to."
Olivia smiled and kissed him hungrily. She straddled him, running her fingers through his hair.
Taylor pulled away gently. "Are you sure you want to do this?"
"I've never been more sure of anything in my life." And with that, Olivia had removed her robe. Taylor's eyes never left Olivia's face. He embraced her lovingly, holding her chin in his hands. She shuddered with both excitement and nervousness. Taylor picked her up and carried her to the bed, laying her down gently. She sat up, removing Taylor's shirt swiftly, then kissed him again. Her nails gently caressed his back, sending shivers down his spine. He crawled on top of her, his hair tickling her cheeks. Olivia could feel him shaking. She began unbuttoning his pants.
"I don't want to hurt you."
"It's okay."
"If it hurts or you don't want to continue, just tell me to stop and I will."
"I will, I promise." She kissed him again, pulling him to her.
Olivia awoke to someone knocking on her door. Taylor was asleep on his stomach, naked and spread eagle. Olivia bit her lip, resisting the temptation to spank him. She stood, put on her robe, and tiptoed to the door. She latched the chain lock and cracked the door open. "Yes?"
"Housekeeping!"
"We're fine, thank you." Olivia smiled and closed the door, dead bolting it. She tiptoed to the bathroom and ran a bath. She sunk down into the water, singing softly to herself. She had closed her eyes and submerged herself under the water. When she came up for air, Taylor was standing at the foot of the tub, still naked. Olivia gasped, startled. "You scared me."
Taylor smiled. "Sorry. I had to pee." He stepped into the water, joining Olivia, his back to her. She put her legs around his hips, arms around his neck. Taylor leaned back, resting his head just under her chin. Olivia kissed the top of his head. "I love you." Taylor whispered.
"I love you, too."
"You don't regret last night?" Taylor turned to look at her, concern on his face.
"No. Why? Do you?"
"Absolutely not."
"Good." Olivia kissed him.
Olivia drove in circles, trying to find her assigned parking space. The parking lot was packed and confusing to navigate. She looked at her parking pass, trying to decipher its meaning. Finally, she found an attendant. He showed her to her space and punched a hole in the pass, placing it on her dashboard. She was so pumped that she arrived super early. She wandered around until she found a map of the fair grounds. The arena was quite a ways away, and the show wasn't for a few hours, so she decided to see if she could spot the tour bus. It didn't take long before she found it. Taylor was standing outside, unloading equipment. There were a few security guards blocking Olivia from approaching him, so she flashed her VIP badge and whistled loudly. Taylor turned around, smiled wide, and ran towards her. He practically tackled her and wrapped his arms around her, lifting her off the ground and spinning her. Olivia laughed wildly, leaning her head back. "Wow, what a greeting!"
Taylor grinned. "You're here early." He grabbed her hand and led her to the bus. "We were just getting ready to set up for a sound check." Olivia leaned against the bus and watched Taylor work. He glanced up at her and winked. This made Olivia melt. "Are you checking me out?"
"Maybe." Olivia winked back. Taylor shook his butt. They both roared with laughter. This caught the attention of some girls passing by. They screamed when they realized who it was.
"Oh my god, that's Taylor!" A girl shouted and began running towards him. Taylor nodded at the security guard, who stepped up to the girls and whispered something to them. One of the girls flipped Olivia the bird as she was walking by. Taylor smirked, pulled Olivia to him, and kissed her hard. Olivia went limp in his arms and closed her eyes. She could hear a girl sobbing in the distance. This made Olivia smile when their kiss was done.
"Wow. You sure showed them."
"Are you complaining?"
"Not in the slightest." Olivia kissed him again, this time keeping it short and sweet. "Better finish getting ready, stud." She spanked him playfully and helped him carry equipment backstage.
After the sound check, she hung out for a bit and listened to the opening act. She had never heard of them, but they weren't too terribly horrible. She had decided to find her seat before the crowd got intense, so she kissed Taylor and waved to the rest of the family as she made her way to her seat. Olivia was seated in the very first row on Taylor's side. The arena was still quite empty, but it wasn't long before fans started piling in. The lights dimmed and the crowd went crazy when they heard the first few notes of 'You Never Know'. The show ended on a beautiful a Capella version of 'This Time Around'. They introduced their back up band, did their bow, and left the stage. The roadies began to tear down the set and the crowd started to disperse, when Taylor came running back out. A lot of the audience members came back to their seats when they spotted Taylor. He pulled Olivia from her seat and brought her up on stage, sitting her next to him at the piano. He began to play a beautiful ballad she had never heard before.
Just lay down and let your worries sleep.
Don't think now of waters dark and deep.
'Cause you know that I'll love you and never let go.
And you know that I'll love you forever.
I'll love you and never let go.
Yes I'll love you and never let go.
Just cry out. Yeah I've cried those tears before.
I can feel it now as your teardrops hit the floor.
'Cause you know that I'll love you and never let go.
And you know that I'll love you forever.
I'll love you and never let go.
Yes I'll love you and never let go.
You don't have to ask me do I love you.
As I hold you it says how much I do.
I'm yours until forever is through.
Anytime I stand before you
I know I'd lay my life down for you.
I'll never let, not ever let go.
Just lay down. Put your worried thoughts to bed.
As slumber pulls you down, on my shoulder rest your head.
'Cause you know that I'll love you and never let go.
And you know that I'll love you forever.
I'll love you and never let go.
Yes I'll love you and never let go.
Olivia didn't realize she was crying until the audience let out a roar of screams and applause. She wiped her tears and stood. Taylor pulled her to him and kissed her gently. He fumbled in his pocket for something, but Olivia's eyes were on the crowd. She could see looks of jealousy and anger on the faces of the girls in the audience. She was expecting items to be thrown at her from various fans. She was not, however, expecting what came next. Screams and boos made Olivia look over at Taylor, who was down on one knee holding a velvet box in his right hand. Olivia's heart began to beat so fast she thought it might explode. "Liv, will you marry me?"
It felt strange being engaged at only 17 years old, but Olivia's father and Taylor's parents were thrilled and had given their blessings. Olivia was almost done packing her last box of stuff when her father knocked on her bedroom door. He had tears in his eyes, but a smile on his face. "I can't believe my baby girl is all grown up and moving away. This house will be so empty." Olivia began to cry and wrapped her arms around her father's neck.
"Oh, daddy! I'm going to miss you so much! I promise to come home for Christmas, so you'll see me in two months." She smiled sweetly, releasing her father from her arms.
"I know. I just don't understand why you can't wait until after the holidays to move."
"Well, we have to start the process of finding a house. Once we're 18, Tay and I will want to live on our own. That's only five months away for him, seven for me. On top of that, we have the holidays and wedding planning. These things take time, pops." Mr. Hobbes folded his arms in front of his chest, sulking. "Oh, don't give me that look. I'm only the next state over. It's not like I'm moving halfway across the country."
"You might as well be."
"Oh quit being such a baby and help me load up the truck!" They shared a laugh as they began loading the U-Haul. When the last box was in, Olivia hugged her father tightly. "I love you, daddy."
"I love you, too, Squirt."
Olivia smiled wide, holding the package in her hands. She traced her finger around the return address. Every time she saw Tulsa, Oklahoma on a package, her heart fluttered.
